Last week Bora “Yellowstar” Kim retired from competitive League of Legends. If you’re someone who has been playing and/or watching the game since the early days then you’ll remember Yellowstar always being there and It’s the same for other players, like Froggen or Diamondprox. Every year the amount of players that has been around for every season drops and in those cases it’s important to not be disappointed that they take the next step in their career but look back at what they have accomplished and all the incredible plays they’ve made throughout their hundreds of games.(c
In this article that’s exactly what we’re going to do for Yellowstar as we look at some of his best and most memorable plays. Whether you’ve been around for years or are just curious to where Yellowstar comes from, these are the plays you should remember.
1. The season 1 Ashe arrow all the way from downtown Summoner’s Rift
Back in Season 1 the scene was a lot smaller so when something incredible happened in a game of League then it was sure to draw a lot of attention. This play happened during the Season 1 DreamHack Finals and if you look closely you’ll see some familiar names such as Soaz make an appearance.
2. Dominant on the Worlds stage
We skip forward to the 2013 World Championship where Fnatic would go 2-0 against Samsung Galaxy Ozone in the Group Stage and eliminate them from the tournament. The team performed incredibly well together and would eventually make it to the semifinals of the tournament. We’re sure Mata and Imp still remember this play.
3. All calulated
A great play doesn’t always need to be offensive as we’ve seen our fair share of great escapes throughout the years. Sometimes being a pro means knowing how to stay alive against all odds. In the clip below, Yellowstar showed that he knows exactly how to do just that as he makes his way back to base when being chased down by Cloud 9’s Hai and LemonNation at the 2015 World Championship. Spoiler: EU > NA.
4. Skumbag Yellowstar
As a support, sometimes you get tired of being a good guy and helping your AD Carry get fed. In our next clip, Yellowstar wanted to remind Rekkles who’s the boss and what better way to do that is there than take away a penta-kill? Skumbag Yellowstar for sure!
5. Return of a Titan
When you’ve played for the same team for so long, expectations are high when you return from North America after a split of playing in the NA LCS. Yellowstar decided to show the world he was back by engaging on Giants Gaming in his very first minute back on Summoner’s Rift and donating a free kill to Rekkles.
We hope you enjoyed a final stroll down memory lane with us! Yellowstar will truly be missed as a player but we can’t wait to find out what he’ll do next as the head of PSG Esports!
