Building Clash Royale into an eSport
Having launched just a few months ago, the latest effort from Clash of Clans creator Supercell has already established a competitive scene. Also they have seen the introduction of an in game tournament system to make competition even easier. Players from all corners of the world are competing in tournaments in game and online.
But for the very top players their goal is, much like many other eSports, the LAN events. Already we have seen a handful of LANs, with the most successful arguably being an ESL tournament in Helsinki a few months ago. The event offered €10,000 to the winner and brought in more than 2.5 million views. This success showed that Clash Royale has incredible potential, which both ESL and Supercell are looking to capitalise on.

How College Esports Support the Community
ESports is booming but, as of now, the revenue from this growth is only enough to support the top few players/teams. This is not unique to eSports. Most sports, other than the major four leagues, only have the resources to reward the best of the best. The vast majority of potentials never make it (earn a living) in any sport.
The difference for eSports is what happens to those who commit everything and still do not make it to the pro level.
In the US, we have a safety net for those who don’t turn pro: college athletics. A teen will sacrifice for the dream of being a pro athlete and in the back of their mind, they know if it doesn’t work out then they have that college option. Scholarships, popularity among peers, and getting into schools they have no business even applying to.

Spanish soccer league LFP is preparing an esports league
According to Vandal Sports, the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional (LFP), a sports association responsible for Spain’s premier soccer league LaLiga as well as the second division LaLiga2, is preparing to organize an esports league. Vandal Sports’ author Saúl González refers to sources close to project who state that the league is likely to debut mid to late 2017.
“As we have been told, it is a strong project that will seek to have the best electronic sports teams nationwide. In addition to all league clubs who want to jump into this type of competition.”

League of Legends is leading the Revenue Race
According to Super-Data Research, League of Legends is making roughly $150 million a month in worldwide revenue. DOTA2 is under the $45 million point in the same interval. The total contribution by Heroes of the Storm and Smite are not even worth mentioning.
eSports Twitch Rankings
Market intelligence firm Newzoo is launching new monthly rankings for the Most Watched Games on Twitch. Investors that had no connections to the gaming scene are quickly educating themselves in a market that had one of the most expanding profit margins in the last decade.
