Producers John Sacchi and Matt Groesch have acquired movie and TV rights to the book “OpTic Gaming: The Making of eSports Champions,”

International e-Sports Federation (IeSF) has announced a partnership, so called ‘Exclusive Strategic Partnership’, with Alibaba Sports Group (Alisports) in Shanghai.

OPTIC GAMING MOVIE REPORTEDLY IN THE WORKS

The New York Times bestseller was published in March, co-authored by Ryan Dempsey and seven past and present OpTic members: Ryan Musselman, Nadeshot, Will Johnson, Scump, Hector Rodriguez, Ryan Wyatt and Ashley Glassel. OpTic is a professional American eSports team.

Sacchi and Groesch will produce under Sacchi’s 5 More Minutes banner, along with Bill Kenney (who most recently served as director of business development at Relativity Sports).

The book explores the requirements to succeed in professional video gaming; the consequences of newfound fame; the inception, rise and global popularity of eSports; and inside the minds of the elite players. OpTic has won the Call of Duty Major League Gaming championship four times since emerging in 2006. Their team includes players such as Matt “NaDeSHoT” Haag; Seth “Scump” Abner; Midnite, one of the first female gamers to rise to stardom on YouTube; and Hector “H3CZ” Rodriguez, the team founder and CEO.

IeSF partners with Alisports

International e-Sports Federation (IeSF) has announced a partnership, so called ‘Exclusive Strategic Partnership’, with Alibaba Sports Group(Alisports)in Shanghai.

Alisports and IeSF have first met in Beijing early this year. Although, it is a quite short period time to make something concrete between two different parties, both parties shared a same vision on future goals which made IeSF and Alisports to reach consensus for such partnership.

There are three specific goals which both shared. First of all, both parties want to have a tournament which all amateur e-Sports players and professional e-Sports players can participate. This means that IeSF will fully endorse WESG Game Series initiatives. Second, both parties will work together to let e-Sports to be recognized as sports. Last but not least, both parties will create the unique IP.

TSM Picks Up Overwatch Team!

Overwatch, one of the fastest growing competitive games, is generating impressive viewership for its tournaments and growing a solid player base in just two months after its launch. With enthusiastic fans and a quickly developing esports scene, we at TSM have been very excited about Blizzard’s newest title.

A couple months ago, we announced that we were accepting applications to form an Overwatch team. We received an overwhelming response and would like to thank everyone for taking the time and effort to apply. After following competitive Overwatch closely and waiting for the right fit, we are proud to announce the start of our Overwatch division with the pickup of Code7.

ELEAGUE and FACEIT Partner to Present Overwatch Open

ELEAGUE, the professional eSports organization established in partnership between Turner and WME | IMG, and FACEIT, the world’s leading independent competitive gaming platform, are teaming up to produce The Overwatch® Open tournament for Blizzard Entertainment’s blockbuster new first-person shooter, Overwatch®. Featuring a colorful cast of 22 unique heroes, each with their own powerful weapons and abilities, Overwatch encourages creativity and teamwork as players clash for control of key locations on a vibrant near-future earth.

The Overwatch Open will comprise an online phase run by FACEIT for European and North American teams. Regional and Grand Finals, will take place at Turner Studios’ ELEAGUE arena in Atlanta. The Grand Final will be presented live on TBS, with simultaneous coverage available via Twitch. Competitors in the Overwatch Open will be vying for their share of a US$300,000 prize pool, making it the largest Overwatch competition to date.
