Winners of five of their last six matches in the Europe League of Legends Championship Series 2018 Summer Season, Splyce face the most difficult schedule of Week 6, which starts on Friday, battling G2 Esports and Misfits.
Splyce on song
While each side looked vulnerable in the previous week with both going 1-1, these are still two of the top teams in the league with aspirations of a Summer Split title.
Splyce, after an horrific start to the year, have rebounded nicely, even doing so pre- and post-Rift Rivals break. The clear star for Splyce in their resurgence has been Nisqy, who has dominated from the Mid lane position. There is a concern about the depth of his champion pool should the likes of Zoe be taken away, but overall his continued improvement has been one of the catalysts for Splyce’s recent run.
They are 2.940 with Dafabet to continue their winning form against G2 (1.414).
Schalke with something to prove
Another team with a rough schedule this week is that of FC Schalke 04, who square off against both Fnatic and G2.
Winners of four in a row, Schalke are also finding themselves rising off the play of their Mid laner, in this case Nukeduck. However, with Schalke their form has been much less consistent than the likes of Splyce. Schalke were on the back foot at times against the still-winless H2K just last week after incredibly sloppy mid-game plays.
After completing the more lax part of their schedule, this week presents an opportunity for Schalke to prove they are a legitimate play-off threat, with highlight match-ups in the Mid lane as Nukeduck takes on two of the top players in his role in the shape of Fnatic’s Caps and G2’s Perkz.
Schalke are 2.970 underdogs with Dafabet against Fnatic (1.408).
Pick and ban something to watch for Misfits
On the flipside, one of the more lenient weeks belongs to that of Misfits Gaming, who recently had their seven-game winning streak snapped by Fnatic.
Misfits are still one of the top teams, if not the top team, in the league, with a wealth of talent complemented by one of the most consistently excellent pick-and-ban phases in the competition.
The only long-term concern for Misfits has been their inability to be more flexible with their champion pool in the bottom lane, with that issue being swept under the rug due to the overall talent and team play within the roster.
This week brings the Unicorns of Love and Splyce, with Misfits looking to get back to winning ways.
They are the shortest-priced favourites on Friday’s coupon with Dafabet going 1.241. Unicorns are 4.130 for the upset.
H2K still winless
This week appears to offer one of the last chances for H2K to break through for their first win, with matches against ROCCAT and Fnatic.
While obviously H2K have struggled mightily this season, they have at times had moments of quality play, with the aforementioned match-up against FC Schalke 04 being much closer than anticipated.
The hope for H2K comes in the form of the rollercoaster of a team that is ROCCAT, who have managed to achieve a 1-1 record in every single week thus far. ROCCAT appear just as likely to fall on their face as they are to rise to the top, with a dream for H2K that they catch ROCCAT napping.
H2K are 2.850 with Dafabet to score that first victory in that clash, with ROCCAT at 1.434.
Team Vitality hits a wall
After dropping their last three matches, Team Vitality have an opportunity to find their early-season form against the likes of Giants Gaming and ROCCAT.
This is the second straight split in which Vitality have had a surge of positive momentum early on, before appearing to hit a wall in the middle and tail portions. Their innovation and flexibility within the draft remains, but they simply fall short in terms of being able to turn an early advantage into an eventual victory.
Vitality currently sit in a three-way tie for fifth, still with a chance to make an impact should they find success this week, although their schedule will then rise in difficulty.
They are 1.429 to beat the Giants, who are offered at 2.870 by Dafabet.
Much to play for
With Misfits clearly the cream of the crop in the EU LCS Summer Season, there is still a lot to play for with four weeks of the regular campaign remaining.
The battle remains in mid-table with a tightly-bunched group of teams and the next two weeks should see some clarity as the 10 teams push for one of the six places in the play-offs.
