After The Summit 5 we sat down with Fnatic Mushi for an interview. We asked him about the team’s performance and his expectations moving forward.

Hi Mushi, thank you for doing this interview. This was not your first time in the United States, do you enjoy coming here?

Mushi: No, this is not my first time in the United States. In fact, I have been here yearly since 2012 to participate in The International and various other third party tournaments. Apart from the long flight hours, the United States is fine. The selection of food here is definitely a lot bigger compared to Europe for example.

What’s your secret to dealing with jetlag?

Mushi: I am lucky that I am able to sleep a lot during the flight. Usually, the team tries to adjust to the difference in timezones a day before the flight to make sure we don’t get the full impact of the jetlag. We usually have to play in tournaments a day after we arrive and this is a very key part of our routine. For example, prior to our flight to the US this time, we knew that we would be arriving at 11am PST, therefore, we did not sleep until after our transit flight from Japan. That meant that we slept at 1pm in Malaysian local time.

The environment you played in during The Summit 5 was a lot different than during big stage tournaments, was it a nice experience playing at the house?

Mushi: This is my second time now coming to The Summit and it is definitely a different environment in comparison to other tournaments. Since they host it in their house, we were very well taken care of and it was also very cozy, just like how we are playing in our gaming house.

We saw some really nice plays come out from you this week, are you happy with your performance during the tournament?

Mushi: Considering we finished in 5th-6th place, we are definitely not happy with the performance we put on. I think a lot could have been done to perform better and we will definitely be striving for this in the upcoming weeks.

What about the team’s form, is there anything you’d still like to work on?

Mushi: I don’t think we are on our best form at the moment because we are rather unstable. We can beat any team and any team can beat us. We have to improve on that in order to climb higher in Starladder I-League 2 and The International 6.

What’s your opinion on Wings Gaming right now?

Mushi: Wings is definitely doing very good right now. Since our team played them during ESL One Manila, I have always thought that they are strong. They have unique traits as they are young but very disciplined. They are also very humble people.

The International 6 is coming up in a few weeks, are you looking forward to it?

Mushi: Of course, it is every players’ dream to be playing at The International. I am very excited about it!

What are your expectations for the team during the event?

Mushi: I expect to finish top 3 in all of our upcoming tournaments.

After not getting an invite, how important is it for you to prove to the world what you’re capable of?

Mushi: It was quite a shock initially when we found out that we didn’t get invited. At first, we felt a little angry and sad but after those early feelings, we calmed ourselves down and quickly moved on to focus on the qualifiers.

Thank you very much Mushi, any shoutouts?

Mushi: A special shoutout to all our sponsors for always supporting us and also all our fans for their constant support!
