Good things come in small packages, according to one of the oldest sayings.
But Galio begs to differ as the Colossus has awaken, breaking free from the bindings of ages-long spells just in time to join the fray in the Rift, while making the grandest entrance of all.
With Patch 7.6 now online, League of Legends players will enjoy the reworked Galio, who has been transformed from a scary gargoyle to a giant marble-white statue with a golden crown and wings, along with gold-plated armor, bracers and knee pads.
Once dormant in the walls that protect Demacia from harm, Galio is now more than active, and in fact he is very eager to move his restless body, with the intention of trampling those who get in his way.
CHECKLIST!
Galio’s new kit make him one of the best defensive champions in League of Legends, but only because his new skills make him one of the best offensive unit in the game.
Need something to clear waves very fast so you can push a lane and bring down a turret? Galio can do it with one fabulous wing-flap, or with a Superman punch that can send enemies rocketing to the sky.
Need a tank to help initiate fights? With a body carved in magical Demacian marble, Galio can withstand significant amount of damage.
Need someone to save the day? Galio is always itching to fight; the way you enter fights is as important as how you end it, so he always make a great entrance into battles.
For starters, Galio’s passive skill grants him bonus magic damage over an area after every several attacks. Then, he can use his first skill, the Winds of War, with a furious wing flap to summon two gusts of wind that deals damage on its path, inflicting extra pain when the winds meet and create a vortex around its main target.
He also has the Justice Punch, his third ability, to use as an initiating or finishing weapon. The punch begins with Galio tracking back slightly, then hurl himself forward like a sling and punching the target with the fury of a thousand Demacians to send the target and those on his way skyward.
To help him defend his lesser allies, he uses his second skill and calls on the powers of Durand. When used, Galio channels back into partial stone warden form to help him tank damage for him and his allies, and when released, nearby enemies will have no other choice but to attack him.
And to cap it off, he was given the best battle entrance in Rift history with his ulti, Hero’s entrance, which allows him to fly to the place of a targeted ally and deal magic AoE damage with an earth-shattering landing, also knocking up those close to him when he lands.
FIGHT OR FREEZE
Because he spent ages curled up as a stone warden, Galio has a Spartan view in fights, which may mean trouble for the big guy if he does not have teammates who can help him kill enemies in battle.
He never retreats, he never surrenders. Well, in his case, he cannot. Like said earlier, he is the best defensive unit because of his offensive skillset. If his team can follow up his initiations, Galio and his allies will snowball throughout games easily, but if his team is underfed and lack the damage to go for kills, Galio might find himself if many situations where he wishes he remained sleeping like the stone warden he really is, unharmed and untouched.
