Faceless disbands after nearly 1 year

One of Southeast Asia’s most dominant teams became the first victim of the roster shuffle as Team Faceless disbands less than one year after creation.

Faceless’ creator Daryl ‘iceiceice’ Koh and Anucha ‘Jabz’ Jirawong were the first to leave the group, while the three remaining players are yet to make announcement on future plans.

Both iceiceice and Jabz were seen as standins for another SEA team Mineski in the World Cyber Arena SEA qualifiers.

Faceless, the group that dominated the region after its creation in the post-TI6 shuffle, has failed to impress in LAN tournaments, finishing 8th in Summit 6, 16th in Boston, 8th in DAC 2017, 8th in Summit 7, 8th in Kiev, 8th in StarLadder Invitational 2.

The team’s best finishes were as third-placers in the Dota Pit League Season 5, fourth-placers in Manila Masters and runners-up in the ASUS ROG SEA Cup.

According to reports, iceiceice told everyone during the creation of the team that the side’s survival depends on whether it can make the TI7.

TNC wants to break barriers with female team

Philippines-based TnC Pro Team has announced an audition for female players in the hopes of making an all-girls Dota 2 squad.

The team is holding the audition in its own gaming café, High Grounds, and is hoping for a high turnout so they can break down barriers in a male-dominated Dota 2 scene.

TnC is not new to looking beyond genders, as it employs Murielle “Kips” Huisman as main statistician and analyst.

Recently, Chinese org Newbee hired Bi “axx” Xia as its offlaner for Newbee.Boss, one of the team’s many junior teams.

It was in 2013 when an all-female squad made a name for itself, when the Na’Vi Ladies won an all-girl Dota 2 LAN competition in Kiev, Ukraine.

League of Legends

TSM dominate Day 1,2 of Blue Rift Rivals

Team SoloMid is leading both groups of the Blue Rift Rivals after two days of round robin matches。

The NA LCS Spring champion TSM defeated EU LCS Spring winner G2 Esports in its opener in the Blue Rift, then continued to win two of three games more to come out in top before Day 3.

TSM, at 3-1, will next face Fnatic, who is currently at 2-2 and tied with three other teams.

The top two teams after a double round robin will face each other in a best-of-five final series.

Counter Strike: Global Offensive

mousesports, G2 top Krakow offline qualifier

mousesports and G2 Esports finished the offline qualifier unbeaten to enter this month’s PGL Major Krakow 2017 as middle rated seeds.

Along with the pair, Penta Sports, Cloud9 and BIG will enter the Krakow event as lower seeds, while the Immortals, Vega Squadron, FlipSide3 Tactics as bottom seeds.

The online qualifier used a Swiss-format round robin, where the winners of the previous round meet to see who will advance as a high seed of the next round. The same rule apply to the losers of the previous round.

The same format will be used in the Krakow Major, where big teams like SK Gaming, North and Astralis have already qualified.

Overwatch

Doomfist arrives in PTR

Overwatch’s gauntlet-bearing character has finally been released to the public test regions.

The bald villain, who has been talked about even before the release of the game, is an offense hero who uses his cyber-powered gauntlet to knock people down, blast through walls and even cause earth shattering quakes. In the lore, Doomfist is the leader of villainous groups that included other naughty characters like Reaper and Widowmaker. He enters the scene after leading a breakout through the shadows.

Doomfist’s arrival has been long awaited, and each and every character release was preceded by players debating whether he’s coming to the scene or not.
