League of Legends
C9, Fnatic make it to Worlds group stage
After sweeping their opponents respectively, NA’s Cloud 9 and EU’s Fnatic have qualified to the main group stage of the 2017 League of Legends World Championship Series in China.
C9 maintained a 100% record after winning all four games in the play-in group stage then outlasted a fighting Lyon Gaming side in the best-of-five cross-group knockout round.
The NA club cruised to an easy Game 1 victory over the LLN winner but got pushed to the limits in Game 2, when C9 needed 62 minutes to turn back Lyon for a 2-0 series lead. In Game 3, C9 was back to its usual dominating self and destroyed Lyon in just 28 minutes with a 12-kill lead in the kill-score.
Fnatic was not as dominating as C9 as they lost one game in the group stage, but it was as merciless as any club in the cross-group match as it dispatched Hong Kong Attitude in three quick games to seal its spot in the Worlds.
Fenerbahce, which came out on top of Group D, is favoured against Group B’s oNe eSport in their cross-group match in the sportsbook of Dafabet.
Also heavily backed is LPL’s unbeaten Team WE (4-0) against Young Generation (2-2).
Dota 2
OpTic Gaming picks up The Dire
FPS team OpTic Gaming dipped its shoes into the Dota 2 scene by signing new roster The Dire.
The Dire was formed by former Evil Geniuses player and CEO Peter “ppd” Dager, along with former veterans Per “Pajkatt” Lille, Quinn “CC&C” Callahan, Ludwig “zai” Walhberg, and Rasmus “MiSeRy” Filipsen.
OpTic’s roster, which plays in the NA region, is yet to qualify in any major or minor tournament, as it placed only second in both StarLadder i-League Invitational 3 and PGL Open Bucharest 2017.
syndereN to play for MidorFeed
Days after the exit of Martin “Saksa” Sazdov, Team MidorFeed announced Troels “syndereN” Nielsen will take his place in the squad.
Carry Enzo “Timado” Gianoli made the announcement in his Twitter page, then was later confirmed by syndereN himself.
After the replacement, MoF defeated mousesports 2-0 in the first round of the Dota Pit League Season 6 EU qualifier.
Overwatch
Miraculous Youngster defeats Vici Gaming 4-1 in OPS 2017 Summer
Miraculous Youngster strolled past Vici Gaming 4-1 in the best-of-seven final series of the Overwatch Premier Series 2017 Summer at YUN SPACE Baoshan Venue.
Team MY raced blazing hot out of the gates to erect a 3-0 lead in the championship round after beating VG at King’s Row, Temple of Anubis and Dorado.
Vici cut the deficit to two when it beat MY at Ilios 1-2, but MY recovered in the next map and sealed the championship with a 2-1 win at Volskaya Industries.
MY, which had a 11-0 record in the group stage, took home $45,000 as the winner, along with 200 circuit points. VG pocketed $23,000 and 150 points as the runner-up.
Spring champion 1246 suffered from a dip of form and slid down to sixth, while spring finalist LGD Gaming finished two spots ahead at fourth.
Counter Strike: Global Offensive
SK Gaming open ELEAGUE campaign against Heroic
Brazilian giant SK Gaming will open its bid for its first ELEAGUE title by facing Heroic in Group D at G-FUEL ELEAGUE Arena in Atlanta, USA.
SK Gaming, highlighted by top-ranked player ‘coldzera’, is favoured in this group stage match in Dafabet since the Brazilians dispatched Heroic 16-5 when they last met in March.
If there is anything that will work on Heroic’s favour, it’s that SK has played poorly recently with no championships won since July, when it won three straight big tournaments.
In the other match, another struggling elite in Astralis faces off against an uprising squad in Team Liquid.
Astralis moved to the top of the CS:GO world with four tournament wins between November 2016 and March 2017, but is yet to win any competition since then.
Liquid is yet to win big in the FPS scene, but it came close with runner-up finishes at ESL One New York and ESG Tour Mykonos, and it even downed SK Gaming at the Big Apple.
Astralis, because of its 20-10 advantage in wins against Liquid, is favoured in this matchup in Dafabet.
